We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Leiden University Europe Hub and invite you to join us for the 'Meet the Hub' Launch event. Rector Hester Bijl will give welcoming remarks, followed by a more detailed presentation of the Europe Hub, and the opportunity to mingle with colleagues working on related issues from across faculties. The event is meant to be the starting point for fostering an inter-faculty community of scholars at Leiden University working on Europe, broadly defined.

Created as part of the Sectorplannen, the Europe Hub is a multidisciplinary platform that promotes and profiles the university’s research and teaching expertise and capacities on Europe. It brings together scholars from four faculties (FGGA, FdR, FGW and FSW), but is of course open to colleagues of other faculties, because it approaches Europe from a broad and inclusive perspective. Europe means the entire continent, its history, peoples, culture, and its political and legal systems, its past and present, its internal developments and global position. Initially, the hub’s activities will be organized around four broad themes:

  1. Europe in the world
  2. Markets, trade, and digitalization
  3. Energy, environment, and health
  4. The foundations of European integration

If you plan to attend the “Meet the Hub” launch event, and/or would like to be included in our mailing list for future events and activities, please fill out this brief form

Please do not hesitate to share this invitation with your colleagues who might be interested in joining the Europe Hub. We look forward to seeing many of you there. For more information, please contact Daniel Schade.
