Multidisciplinary platform for research and teaching on Europe
Be part of the launch of Leiden University’s Europe Hub! This event is meant to be the starting point for fostering an inter-faculty community of scholars at Leiden University working on Europe, broadly defined.
Rector Hester Bijl will give welcoming remarks, followed by a more detailed presentation of the Europe Hub, and the opportunity to mingle with colleagues working on related issues from across faculties.
The Europe Hub is a multidisciplinary platform that promotes and profiles the university’s research and teaching expertise and capacities on Europe. It brings together scholars from four faculties (FGGA, FdR, FGW and FSW), but is of course open to colleagues of other faculties, because it approaches Europe from a broad and inclusive perspective.
‘Europe’ means the entire continent, its history, peoples, culture, and its political and legal systems, its past and present, its internal developments and global position.
Initially, the hub’s activities will be organized around four broad themes:
1. Europe in the world
2. Markets, trade, and digitalization
3. Energy, environment, and health
4. The foundations of European integration
