Artists of all mediums have a unique way of looking at the world and seeing patterns, lights, colours, and shapes. Making art out of something you observe, gives you the chance to see it differently. To reframe it.

The Art Committee invites you to two workshops in which you can put this into practice: creating art in two different mediums, that will make you see the building you study and work in every day in a whole new light.

Workshop 1: Photography

May 30th, 15.00 – 17.00

In this workshop, you will learn how to use tools you already possess to take photos of your surroundings and notice details that are often overlooked. Just bring your phone or your own camera, and with the help of a professional photographer, you will find new and interesting ways in which to capture the Pieter de la Court building.

You can send your final pictures to the Art Committee, where they will be digitally manipulated by an artist and turned into digital art. This is the basis for the second workshop. This also reflects the workflow of the artist who teaches the painting workshop: she makes art in three stages. She starts with a photograph, which she edits digitally, making it digital art, and then she paints it on canvas, making it physical art.

Workshop 2: Painting

June 13th, 15.00 – 17.00

In this workshop, a graphic artist will take you through the last part of her workflow, which is painting digitally altered photographs. You will paint the photographs from the first workshop that are digitally altered, using a grid method, in a modern style. All tools will be provided.

Your final product will reveal a new reality of the Pieter de la Court building and each stage of the process will be displayed on the first floor of the building.

The workshops are open to all faculty members, both students and staff. The maximum capacity for each workshop is 20 people.
