On June 12, the Medical Encounters symposium will take place at Herta Mohr. This event focuses on humanities and social science research on medical interaction. The programme features a diverse range of speakers from various disciplines and offers ample opportunity for discussion and dialogue. The symposium is organized by the Health Humanities Network.

The morning programme consists of three short lectures on research within this field. The speakers are:

  1. Claire Weeda, university lecturer en directer of education at the Insitute for History (10:15-11:00).
  2. Kaya Peerdeman, assistent professor and university lecturer at Leiden University within the framework of the Sector Plan for Social Sciences and Humanities (11:00-11:45).
  3. Tessa van Charldorp, associate professor language and communication at the department of Languages, Literature and Communication at Utrecht University.

The afternoon session likewise features three speakers, each of whom will present a case study from their own area of research, which will serve as the basis for further discussion. The speakers in the afternoon are:

  1. Marleen Kunneman, university lecturer and researcher at the Health Campus Den Haag (LUMC) and KER Unit (Mayo Clinic, VS) (13:30-14:15).
  2. Annemarie Samuels, associate professor at the Leiden Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (14:30-15:15).
  3. Paul van Trigt, university lecturer social history (15:15-16:00).
