If you need a new computer (desktop or laptop) you can apply for it via the ICT Shared Service Centre (ISSC). In most cases, people apply for a computer in the form of a complete digital workplace. Workplace desktops and laptops are operated by ISSC and provide immediate access to various software packages and personal and shared network data storage.
Applying for a digital workplace
A digital workplace consists of a desktop or laptop with additional hardware, such as a mouse, keyboard and telephone, and software that you need for your work. For your workplace you can choose between Windows, MacOS and Linux (Ubuntu). You can use the application form to largely configure your digital workplace yourself. The procedure for applying for a digital workplace may differ per organisational unit. Once you have applied, a staff member from the purchasing department or workplace support unit will if necessary discuss your order and delivery details with you.

Broken and/or in need of replacement
If your computer or laptop breaks down, please report this to ISSC. ISSC staff do not repair hardware themselves, but follow the applicable warranty conditions. Desktops have a warranty of four years and laptops of three. Specific models may deviate from this warranty term. Within the warranty period, we will try as much as possible to repair your computer or laptop at your workplace. Once the warranty has expired, your broken computer or laptop will not be repaired but replaced. ISSC will inform your ICT coordinator when it is time to replace your desktop or laptop.
It goes without saying that the purchase of ICT equipment is costly. This is why every application must first be approved. All ordered equipment becomes the property of Leiden University.
