In the media: Prof. Dr. Joanita Vroom about the Van Steenis depot
In a closed room in the Van Steenis building, hundreds of boxes are waiting under fluorescent lights for someone to come and see them. The jumble of handwritten and printed labels unveils how often the collection has been reorganized, moved and rearranged. Boxes full of potsherds and pottery, human bones, soil samples and flints are the result of many decades of excavations by Leiden archaeologists.

Joanita Vroom, professor of Archeology of Medieval and Early Modern Eurasia, coordinates the Leiden Inventory of the Depot to better document and archive the collection. She talks about this in Leiden University Weekblad Mare.
