Natalia Ortiz – Winner of the 2019 - 2020 KNCV Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology thesis prize

Natalia Ortiz (Division of Drug Discovery and Safety) has been awarded the 2019-2020 PhD-thesis prize by the Division of Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology, from the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV-MCCB). The KNCV-MCCB thesis prize is a biannual award which is granted to the best PhD thesis from a Dutch university, in the fields of Medicinal Chemistry or Chemical Biology.

Natalia Ortiz defended her thesis on December 4, 2019. Her thesis, entitled “The road to Insurmountability – Novel avenues to better target CC chemokine receptors”, was selected as the winner out of nine nominated dissertations. This prestigious award consists of a €1000 cash prize, a certificate and a small sculpture. In addition, she will have the opportunity to present her work at the 8th Young Medicinal Chemists’ Symposium, organized by the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry and held virtually on September 9-10, 2021.
