RP1 project from Cyprus

This pandemic has affected everyone and especially students who were not able to carry out their projects on the laboratories. I am an international student from Cyprus and I had the opportunity to perform my Research Project 1 completely remotely, at Rawi Ramautar’s group. Even though, this may sound a bit difficult, I have managed to finalize the project under the excellent supervision of Marlien van Mever.

During the weekly meetings these past 9 months, I really felt connected with the group, despite the fact I have not met them in person. Additionally, I am really impressed that I have learned a lot, without being in a laboratory, and I had the possibility to get out of my comfort zone by conducting a more statistical project, as well as using the HPLC Teaching Assistant, an HPLC-UV simulator. Working on my project from a distance encouraged me to create a learning environment where it could inspire me to be motivated and disciplined in order to achieve my goals. All in all, nothing is impossible due to increasing use of internet and technological advancements today and I could not have done it without a superb supervision, some patience and willingness to learn.
