New LeidenGlobal activities for Leiden2022
With Leiden2022 drawing nearer, LeidenGlobal is busy developing extra activities to demonstrate the knowledge that is present in Leiden and to create interaction with a wider audience. With this valorisation, the partnership between several cultural and academic institutions in Leiden matches the theme of Leiden City of Science: Who Knows.
Currently, LeidenGlobal is coordinating a project for the Leiden Faculty of Humanities, in collaboration with its partners, in which several Leiden ‘world walks’ are being developed. These tours, that travel past ‘migration’ in Leiden, through ‘African’ Leiden, or past international wall poetry, will be part of Leiden2022’s ‘Gulliver’s Travels’.
Tutankhamun
In November 2022, LeidenGlobal and its partners will also commemorate the discovery of the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, exactly one hundred years ago. This discovery in 1922 has meant a lot to science. Among others, Leiden experts from the Netherlands Institute for the Near East, the National Museum of Antiquities and Leiden University have also done important research related to this discovery. We would like to show you this.
Winter school
Next year, LeidenGlobal, together with the International Institute for Asian Studies, will also organise a major signature event in the form of a Winter School, where students from all over the world are invited to Leiden to gain new knowledge and to incorporate it into their own research.
New exhibition
A new LeidenGlobal exhibition will open in the spring of 2022, following the successful exhibition ‘Heritage on the Move’ (2016-2020). More information will be announced shortly on the LeidenGlobal website. You discover the world in Leiden, and Leiden2022 provides a wonderful platform.
