Jos Raaijmakers nominated for Huibregtsenprijs 2022
The research project of Jos Raaijmakers is nominated for the Huibregtsenprijs 2022. The researcher of NIOO, with a guest appointment at the Institute of Biology Leiden (IBL), is one of six nominees. On the Evening of Science & Society (Dutch: Avond van Wetenschap & Maatschappij), 10 October 2022, the jury will announce the winner.
The nominated research of professor Jos Raaijmakers aims at more sustainable agriculture. Micro-organisms in the soil could help crops grow. Not just with taking in necessary nutrients, but with warding off illnesses and diseases as well. Raaijmakers in head of the department Microbial Ecology at NIOO. Additionally, he is professor of Microbial interactions and diversity at Leiden University.
