Leiden Legal Technologies Program runner up for Gouden Zandloper

The Leiden Legal Technologies Program is runner up for the Gouden Zandloper (Golden Hourglass) for Legal Education & Research, the prize for the most innovative legal programme.

The Leiden Legal Technologies Program is geared towards professionals and bridges the gap between the legal and technical world. The programme hopes to connect these two fields of expertise. Jaap van den Herik, Professor emeritus Law and Computer explains: ‘Too often, different languages are spoken in the two fields of expertise.’

The Leiden Legal Technologies Program was developed to support professionals. Van den Herik says: ‘For them it is very much necessary to continue to keep up with the latest developments because otherwise they are unable to breach the knowledge gap.’

The Leiden Legal Technologies Program aims to bring forth the lawyers of the future and teach them the skills necessary to excel in their work. Legal technology comes into play when the execution of legislation can no longer be practised with head and hand. This not only makes legal practice more efficient, but also better.
