Anne Sytske Keijser, Mark Leenhouts, and Silvia Marijnissen have won the 2022 FILTER Translation Award for De droom van de rode kamer (Dream of the Red Chamber), their Dutch translation of Cao Xueqin’s Hongloumeng. FILTER is an influential journal in translation studies that connects scholarship and theorization of translation with its practice, with plenty of room for experiment and reflection.
This beautiful book and the translation marathon that preceded its publication have received a great deal of media coverage and other exposure, such as “salon” sessions at Spui25 and the Leiden University Libraries. The FILTER Award is the icing on the cake, but who knows what’s next…. Long live the Dream!
