Helma de Jong
Name:
Helma de Jong
Age:
63
Position:
Management Assistant LACDR – PhD Office
Works at LACDR since:
I joined LACDR in November 2021. Actually, I was only supposed to stay for a few months to catch up on the schedule. Eventually I became part of this enthusiastic and committed team of the LACDR office. I really enjoy supporting the LACDR team.
Favorite childhood memory:
I have a few memories:
Celebrating Christmas with my family.
Taking long walks to Scheveningen with my father and sisters.
Holidays with my family in Friesland. I my memory the weather was always beautiful.
Best quality:
I am a reliable person. When I promise something, I do it whatever it takes.
Worst quality:
I have difficulty expressing myself, especially when subjects are very emotional for me. As a result, I can keep worrying longer than is actually necessary.
I don’t like to cook, so I’m a very bad cook.
When I am off:
I like to take long walks or to make beautiful trips on my new ebike.
Playing my violin ensures that I can relax completely.
Also the children and grandchildren require the necessary attention, for example by watching a football game of an 8 year old boy on Saturday morning at 08.30. But I love it.
The lesser side of life is that I lost a few friends to ALS, a cruel and deadly muscle disease. That’s why I try to raise funds for research. Friends climb the Mont Ventoux (Tour du ALS) for this purpose.
Next scheduled holiday:
The Azores
Favorite music:
I like all genres: from Beethoven to Queen.
