Dennis Broeders appointed 'Global Chair' at University of Bath
Dennis Broeders, professor of Global Security and Technology at ISGA, has been appointed 'Global Chair' at the University of Bath for the year 2023-2024. Broeders is one of four appointed visiting professors who will regularly visit the university and help establish and strengthen collaborations and share knowledge.
The university's website applauds Broeders' arrival. ‘We are delighted to welcome Professor Dennis Broeders as Global Chair. He is a leading researcher at the intersection of international security, technology and policy, and brings expertise in global security, international governance of cybersecurity and emerging technologies. His appointment as Global Chair will support our development of a new Institute for Digital Security and Behavior. His visit will bring workshops, lectures, a public lecture and networking across campus.'
Interesting people to work with
Broeders plans to host events and discussions in Bath, but will also contribute ideas and advice on the newly established Institute for Digital Security and Behavior. 'The intention is that after the year as Global Chair there I will also join the advisory board of the new Centre. For me, this appointment is an interesting opportunity to look inside an English university. How does it work there? What are the hot topics? In my field of cybersecurity, England is a major player, so there are interesting people there to cooperate with and keep the contacts warm.'
In addition, Broeders thinks it is good for Leiden University and the city of The Hague to make that connection between Bath and ‘Leiden’ visible in this way.
