Quality of master’s programmes assessed in new guide

The Air and Space Law (Advanced LL.M.) master’s programme at Leiden University is among ten ‘excellent master’s programmes’ at Dutch universities. This is according to ‘Keuzegids masters 2024’, a guide to master’s programmes in the Netherlands.

Air and Space Law (Advanced LL.M. from Leiden Law School) is rated by students as well above average in all areas (content, lecturers, assessment, career preparation and atmosphere) and therefore qualifies as excellent. Several other Leiden University master’s programmes also scored above average, including:

  • Cyber Security (Governance and Global Affairs)
  • Philosophy (Humanities)
  • Health, Ageing and Society (LUMC)
  • Life Science and Technology (Leiden University and Delft University of Technology)
  • Population Health Management (LUMC)

Response from Hester Bijl

Rector Magnificus Hester Bijl is proud of the programmes and the appreciation they receive from students. ‘Students rate the quality of our master’s programmes in Leiden and The Hague. Our lecturers, researchers and staff work hard to make our masters programmes the best of their kind to equip students for the challenges of the future.’

Each year, Keuzegids masters (in Dutch) lists all master’s programmes in the Netherlands, at both universities of applied sciences and research universities. The scores are based, among others, on student assessments from the annual National Student Survey (NSE). Keuzegids, which is independent, gives students insight into the quality of the over 1,250 master’s programmes in the Netherlands.

Bachelor’s programmes

Leiden University’s bachelor’s programmes previously received good ratings. In Keuzegids universiteiten 2024, an impressive six bachelor’s programmes earned the title of ‘top programme’.
