Development of the education building at the Reuvens site begins

Work on the buildings for the Faculty of Humanities is continuing. Planning has begun for a modern, future-proof education building on the site of the current Reuvens building. The new education building is scheduled for completion in mid-2031.

It is currently being assessed whether Reuvens will be demolished or partially renovated. What we do know is that there will be a modern, energy-neutral teaching building with an attractive catering facility and terrace for students and staff. Central student services desks, study spaces and a living room will make for a pleasant, lively environment for students.

From Reuvens and Lipsius to a refurbished education building in a park setting

Construction or refurbishment will begin in 2029. The current users of Reuvens will move to Aleida Nijland before then. The new building is due to be completed by mid-2031. The lectures currently held in the large lecture theatres at Lipsius will in future be held in the new Reuvens building. Currently, lectures from the Faculty of Law (FdR) also take place regularly at Lipsius. For this reason, a diverse project team comprising colleagues from our faculty, SOZ, FdR and Real Estate will together identify all the technical requirements for the teaching building at the Reuvens site.
