Leiden University Global Fund
At Leiden University, we know a long tradition of working with international partners. To encourage successful and strategic partnerships, the Leiden University Global Fund (LUGF) was established in 2024. This fund is intended to invest in worldwide partnerships, activities and initiatives. One of the key component is a yearly seed fund for collaborations with priority partners in the regions, but also activities with specific partners are funded though the fund.
The Leiden University Global Fund is aimed at fostering strategic ties and collaboration with priority partnerships across the world. It is divided into two main funding activities (or action lines):
- Funding strategic collaborative initiatives globally
- Funding implementation activities in designated priority regions
Each year, the priorities of the fund are reviewed and reconsidered to form a new investment plan. We take both long-term strategy as short-term opportunities into account. For instance, the LUGF invests in institutionalising collaboration with the University of Edinburgh and the Asian Development Bank to set up joint initiatives for executive education or staff mobility. Yearly seed funds aim to deepen and widen collaborations with partners, by funding small bi-lateral research and education projects.
