Publication tools

Use bibliographic managers to collect, store and organize your references and PDF documents. Via the LUCRIS Publication Management  you add publications to Leiden University Scholarly Publications, a database of publications by Leiden scientists. The publications are freely accessible digitally as much as possible (Open Access).

A bibliographical manager is software that can be used to collect, save and organise your literature references and PDF documents. This software also allows you to create bibliographies and references in various styles and insert these into programmes such as Word. The software makes it possible to search through, sort and share your compiled literature lists.

Leiden University has licences for EndNote. Other software, such as Mendeley and Zotero, are freely available. See an overview of all bibliographical managers on the website of the university library.

Leiden University Scholarly Publications is a database of publications by academics from and institutions affiliated to Leiden University. Researchers and PhD candidates use LUCRIS Publication Management (PM) to add publications (except for doctoral theses). Wherever possible, publications should be Open Access in the digital environment

Scholarly Publications, (before: Leiden Respository) is the online storage for scholarly output from Leiden University’s researchers and from institutes affiliated with Leiden University. Since 2006 the repository has provided Open Access to PhD Theses, scholarly journals, book series and conference proceedings. Leiden University researchers have the obligation to register their scholarly publications in LUCRIS and attach a pdf to make their scholarly output Open Access.

Through Open Access, research results from around the world are freely accessible to all. It is an incentive for exchanging and utilising knowledge and fresh insights between scientists, companies and social institutions. The Centre for Digital Scholarship offers support with Open Access publishing.
