Investment Manager Life Science, Libertatis Ergo Holding B.V. (1 fte)
Working within the vibrant Leiden University entrepreneurship ecosystem together with the Libertatis Ergo Holding B.V. (LEH) team which is responsible for investing in spinouts and startups from Leiden University students and researchers.
As an Investment Manager with a Life Science background, you will evaluate deal flow and opportunities from a technical, financial and business perspective, carry out financial, technical and commercial due diligence, recommend and support investments from LEH B.V. or other investors, represent LEH as a Board member on spinouts as required, work together with other entrepreneurship partners in the Leiden and Netherlands ecosystem including Leiden University, Luris, Leiden BioScience Park, Leiden Centre for Entrepreneurship (PLNT), Biopartner, other academic institutions and investors. You will help create, build and support startups and scaleups related to Leiden University, which create wealth, jobs and have a positive economic impact of society.
You are focused on evaluating and completing commercial investment deals, providing business and financial support to entrepreneurs, maintaining relationships and creating new opportunities. To be effective you are acutely aware of stakeholders' strategic drivers, you understand the challenges which accompany academia and startups.
You will work closely in an dynamic and supportive team environment at LEH, with deep experience in finance and entrepreneurship, deal making, life science, IP, licensing, legal and other matters, and be located on the Leiden BioScience Park.
- a Ph.D in life sciences, and knowledge of drug discovery;
- experience in entrepreneurial finance and/or startup investment deals;
- knowledge of grants and technology transfer;
- background in industry and entrepreneurship in life sciences;
- working knowledge of Intellectual Property;
- relevant professional experience of at least five years; and
- proficient in English (written and spoken) and working knowledge in Dutch; non-native speakers should have the ability to acquire working knowledge of Dutch within a year.

Appointment will be according to the terms of the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch
Universities (CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten). The initial appointment will be for a period of one year with the opportunity for a renewal of at least one year or a permanent appointment. The salary will either salary scale 12 – 13 CAO NU (gross minimum of € 4612 and gross maximum of € 6421 per month based on qualifications and experience and on full-time employment.
