Leiden University College offers a selective honors Bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Global Challenges to talented students from all over the world. We are looking for an Events and Communication Officer to cover the maternity leave of our colleague.

In this role you will oversee the organization of all events for Leiden University College The Hague (LUC), both online and offline. In the coming period, these are Open Days (February), Experience Days, and the preparations for Graduation (July) and Intro Week (August). There are additional events throughout the semester, including information activities (for prospective students), alumni activities, lectures, and social events organized for and by LUC employees and students.
You are responsible for the communication around these events. Additionally, you are working together with other communication colleagues on web management, social media, newsletters, and other mailings (both internal and external) necessary for the programme. You will work very closely with the other team members such as the senior communication officer and supervise a student assistant.
You are representable and have excellent communication skills (speaking and writing) in both English and Dutch. You are skilled in working with online tools including social media, design software (such as Canva), have experience with website maintenance and are very strong in planning and organizing, and you can keep an overview of projects and procedures. We are looking for a colleague with an eye for detail and a flexible, practical mentality who can work well in an international environment.
- Relevant training at least at HBO (university of applied sciences) level;
- You have experience in developing communication content and can work with different tools;
- Experience in organizing large-scale events (including online events);
- You have a professional, customer-oriented, pro-active attitude, you are also stress resistant, accurate and you have a hands-on mentality;
- Excellent command of the English and Dutch language;
- Willingness to work outside regular working hours for events.

The Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs is an internationally acclaimed academic knowledge hub that studies world-wide issues from the varied perspectives of governance, politics, law, sociology and economics. We contribute to far-reaching socio-cultural debate through our acquired knowledge. Staff members conduct research in fields such as global politics, public administration, security, and urban issues. Terms and conditions
The appointment is temporary for 6 months starting 2 January 2023. The salary depends on previous experience and ranges from € 2.818,- to € 4.257,- gross per month (pay scale 8 or 9) on fulltime basis, in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities.
