Faculty of Science
From the start of the academic year 2020-2021, the university will replace Blackboard with Brightspace as a digital learning environment. The coming period will be all about informing and training lecturers at our faculty.
The corona crisis has brought many challenges. For this reason, we have looked at how we can best support lecturers in this new situation.
Brightspace: take a look!
Every lecturer already has access to Brightspace (https://brightspace.universiteitleiden.nl). Every lecturer also has a "sandbox" as standard: a personal testing environment to which others do not have access.
Getting to know Brightspace: online training courses and instructions
There are various possibilities to get to know Brightspace. In Brightspace you will find the 'Brightspace Online Training' which can be viewed at any time. Can't find the training in Brightspace? Send an email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are also several online manuals and instruction videos available at: https://universiteitleiden.screenstepslive.com/. In addition to written manuals, the central Brightspace team has also made general instruction videos. These videos discuss Brightspace functionalities such as Grades, Assignments, Course Builder, Discussions and Announcements. The videos can be found here.
Setting up Brightspace: do it yourself or have it done?
We are ready to support you: we can fully transfer the environment from Blackboard to Brightspace. All you have to do is check our work. Of course you can also do it yourself.
The project team is ready to convert the Blackboard environments to Brightspace and/or support lectures in setting up Brightspace. For the migration, we will start with courses from block 1, after which we will start working with subjects from block 2, etc.
