Digital student portal

Finding information like your full timetable, or completing tasks like enrolling for courses is an inefficient, complicated and unclear process for many students. They often end up wasting time trawling through different systems.

On the digital student portal project, we are developing a digital space where students will be able to find the information they need to organise their studies. It will be a central space where they can see their full timetable and grade list, for instance, and can easily register for courses and exams. And if they are unable to do something or things are unclear, this is where they will be able to ask any questions. The portal will therefore make it easier for students to take charge of their own studies.

Over the past years extensive preparations have been made for this student portal, including comprehensive discussions with students and staff to identify their exact needs. The initial steps were taken in 2020, when a developer was found to work with the university on the realisation of this portal. Students will be closely involved in this process. The digital student portal will launch at the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year.

The advantages of the student portal are as follows:

  • It will be easy to register for exams and courses
  • It will be easy to see your full timetable, including work groups, exams, lectures and practicals
  • You will be able to see a clear list of grades
  • You will be able to access the portal on your mobile, desktop or tablet
  • You will be in control of which notifications and messages you receive.

‘I have to do different things in different systems such as Blackboard, uSis, the e-Prospectus, mail and the app. It’s not clear what I have to do and when. I also don’t know where I can find more information and who can answer my questions. I can’t see the wood for the trees.’
