Guestaccounts
Employees and students of Leiden University have access to Brightspace and other software with their ULCN-account. For others without a ULCN-account, like guest lecturers or teaching assistants, SEEDS can provide a guest account.
What is a guest account?
A guest account is a temporary account that is activated for the duration of a semester, or an entire academic year. A guest account can always be extended for a new period. Guest accounts are created, activated and extended by SEEDS.
Guest accounts request are always done by (or via) the institutes. Teaching assistants and guest lecturers can not request an account themselves.
For whom
- Persons like guest lecturers or teaching assistants
- For guest staff, teaching assistants and students of bridging programmes it's not always possible to get a regular ULCN account. In these cases a guest account can be the solution.
Other (not provided bij SEEDS)
- External staff who teach more than just a few lectures (a whole course or several courses) should be given an employee account via the HR department (ASSC). Enquire within your institute how that is organised.
- Students of other dutch universities need to register at Leiden as a guest student (see 'other modes of study'). They will receive a student account to use for enrolling in courses and exams via MyStudyMap / uSis and looking up your results. Enrolments in a course will result in access to the required Brightspace course. Account requests for this group of students will not be processed by SEEDS.
- For contract students who only take one or just a few courses, the account will be arranged by the faculty.
How to aquire a guest account
There are two ways to aquire a guest account from SEEDS.
Request for a single account
If you want to send a request for a single account, you can use the this form:

To fill in this form, you need a ULCN account, so the form needs to be filled in by someone from the faculty, of the institute.
Request for multiple accounts
If you need multiple accounts (for instance for a group of teaching assistents at the start of a new semester), you can use the Excel document below. SEEDS uses this file to make a bulk import.
To make sure this bulk import goes without any errors or problems, the file comes with a few requirements. You will find the requirements and remarks in the second tab of the Excel file.

Once the account is created, SEEDS can not send a link for a new password, or reset an account. If you experience log in issues, please contact the ISSC (ICT Shared Service Centre) helpdesk.
Require an extension
There are two ways to require the extension of a guest account.
Extension for a single account
If you want to request the extension of a single account, you can send SEEDS an email. We need the following information:
- username or unique id (only numbers)
- experation date
If you do not know the user name, then we need:
- last name
- first name (optional)
- date of birth
- experation date
Extension for multiple accounts
If you need an extension for multiple accounts, you can use our Excel document. Please see the Excel document 'Aanvraag for the required fields (Dutch only).
