Dialogue

This format can include interviews and discussions. Usually two or more people are recorded. However, sometimes you only see the interviewee, and the questions may appear as text on the screen. This format is usually used outside of the studio. So feel free to think of a place which best fits your needs.

When to use this format? When you want to:

  • Gain insights from experts in the field.
  • Have indepth discussions.
  • Address questions from and misconceptions of students.

Keep in mind that:

  • Experts have busy agendas and might live in different time zones.
  • You do not look directly at the camera, but at your interview/discussion partner.
  • You need to prepare your questions or discussion topics well, and keep them limited to avoid long postproduction and too long videos.
  • It must be clear who is addressing whom.

Keep in mind that recording a dialogue usually needs multiple cameras to capture different angles. Contact your video coordinator to find out what the options are at your faculty.
