Accessibility of Anna van Buerenplein by car has changed

15 August 2023

As you might know, Leiden University College The Hague is located at Anna van Buerenplein 301 (AvB), right next to the Dutch House of Representatives. Due to increased security regulations, the regulations to access AvB by car have changed.

There is a Q-Park parking garage located underneath Anna van Buerenplein. This remains freely accessible. It is therefore advisable to only request access to Anna van Buerenplein if this is necessary, for example when unloading heavy equipment. For other visits you can use the parking garage.

How to access the square by car

The square can be accessed from the princes Irenestraat, between New Babylon and the House of Representatives, where traffic bollards are in place to restrict traffic to the square. You can access the AvB square by car in the morning, on Monday to Friday from 05:00 - 07:00 and from 10:00 - 11:30 and Saturday and Sunday from 06:00 - 11:30. This is when the bollards are open.

Request an Exemption

Outside of the opening hours of the bollard, you can request an exemption from the municipality of The Hague to access the square:

  1. Fill out this form
  2. Send it to intakevergunningen@denhaag.nl
  3. You will receive a call or email (within two working days)
  4. Pick up the permit at the City Hall

It is also possible to park in the Q-Park parking garage underneath the square. This remains freely accessible.

Registration needed

LUC must always register your car and driver through an online portal, so the guards in front of the House of Representatives can open the barriers for your car. You can register by sending an email to the LUC Information Desk, with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Phone number
  • Date of arrival
  • Name of the driver (if different from the person requesting access)
  • License plate number
  • Who is your visit in reference to?
  • What is the reason for your visit?

Questions can be directed at the LUC info desk (info@luc.leidenuniv.nl).
