2024: My door’s open!

10 January 2024

Welcome to 2024 – a year of new opportunities and good resolutions both on a personal and professional level. Lots of people say they’re going to eat healthier, exercise more or pursue a better work-life balance. But let’s also strive to be there for one another, create stronger connections with our colleagues and share our knowledge and curiosity. Investing in social connections reduces feelings of loneliness and helps us learn from one another. And that’s why we’re launching the ‘My door’s open!’ initiative within our faculty – it’s going to help us on our way to a meaningful year! Read on to find out what this initiative involves.

A listening ear
Recognisable by the university’s blue corporate colour and complete with a QR code, the specially designed door hangers are an invitation to your colleagues to step into your office if they could do with a listening ear, a chat about how they’re really doing, or if they simply want to get to know you.

QR code on your door hanger
Scan the QR code to discover the full well-being offering for employees and students of our university. There are options to help with your physical well-being such as discounts on sports subscriptions at the USC, appointments with career coaches and a wide variety of courses to support your personal and professional development. Click here to browse your options.

How to get a door hanger
The hangers will be placed on the doors of offices at the Kamerlingh Onnes Building (KOG) on Thursday 11 January. Please share the door hangers with colleagues on your corridor. For sustainability reasons, we have not printed a hanger for every single office. To order your own hanger, please get in touch with the faculty’s Wellbeing Officer, Susanne Deen (s.j.deen@law.leidenuniv.nl).

Join in!
By participating in the ‘My door’s open!’ initiative, you’re contributing to an open, supportive work culture at our faculty. Through this new initiative, we hope to bring all employees closer together in 2024!
