Europe Hub MA thesis prize 2025: Call for Submissions

Leiden University’s Europe Hub invites submissions from all faculties for its annual Europe Hub master's thesis prize by 1 September 2025.

Eligibility and Conditions

  • Open to: All master’s theses submitted for evaluation at any Leiden University faculty within the 12 months prior to 1 September 2025.

  • Themes: The thesis must address at least one of the Europe Hub’s thematic priorities:

    1. Europe in the world

    2. Markets, trade, and digitalisation

    3. Energy, environment, and health

    4. The foundations of European integration
      (For further details, see the Hub’s mission statement.)

  • Mark: The thesis must have received a grade of at least 8.0.

  • Preference: Theses with an interdisciplinary approach are prioritised in the evaluation.

Prizes

  • Winner: Certificate and €250 prize money

  • Runners-up (2nd and 3rd place): Certificates

How to Submit

  • Deadline: 1 September 2025

  • Send to: europehub@leidenuniv.nl by the thesis author or their thesis supervisor.

  • Required documents:

    • A PDF of the thesis

    • A recommendation letter from the supervisor, highlighting the strengths of the thesis

    • A motivation letter from the student summarising, in particular, the interdisciplinary aspects of the thesis and the thesis' relevance to the Europe Hub's thematic priorities as specified in its mission statement.
