New sound system in the Academy Building and at Spui Campus for people who are hard of hearing

29 June 2026

Several rooms in the Academy Building and at Spui Campus are now equipped with Auracast. This Bluetooth technology lets you listen to audio in a room through earbuds, headphones and hearing aids.

Accessible rooms

Auracast helps students, staff and visitors who are hard of hearing hear better in large, noisy rooms. Students are no longer dependent on a good spot in the room, and teaching staff are assured that students can understand and activelyparticipate. Auracast can also aid concentration by filtering out distracting noise. This helps make our rooms accessible for all.

The following rooms will have the technology:

  • Spui 1B.10
  • Spui 1B.12
  • Academy Building: Great Auditorium
  • Academy Building: Telders Auditorium
  • Academy Building: Senate Room

How does it work?

Connecting to the Auracast system is like connecting to a WiFi network. Many devices already support Auracast. If your device is not on the list of supported devices, come to the reception for a receiver that will enable you to connect. This device also has a 3.5mm output jack for wired earbuds.
