Gorlaeus Building ventilation system works: rooms back in use

27 July 2026

The work on the ventilation system in the Gorlaeus Building has been completed following the temporary closure of various spaces on 23 and 24 July. The areas that were temporarily inaccessible are back in use from 27 July.

The following areas are now accessible again:

  • C Wing (all floors);
  • the astrophysics laboratory
  • the Science Library;
  • the student associations;
  • De Fusie;
  • Lecture rooms BM.1.33 and CM.1.26;
  • the toilets near the entrances to B Wing and C Wing.

Ventilation system: remaining works

Work on the ventilation system will continue until 7 August. During this period, the ventilation in laboratories will remain fully operational. In offices and meeting rooms, however, the ventilation may temporarily be less effective than usual.
We kindly ask you to take this into account and, where possible, to improve ventilation by opening windows and doors regularly, and closing them again when you leave.
