Data Management Plan course for PhD's

The FGGA Graduate School is happy to invite you to the PhD course Data Management Plan.

The training consists of three sessions given by Femmy Admiraal (Centre for Digital Scholarship of the University Library), Ellen Touwen (Information Management) and Pascal Flohr (Leiden University Libraries). The course touches upon all aspects of data management, with examples frawn from the FGGA research practice, in particular the following topics: 

  • Policy requirements for writing a data management plan
  • What is FAIR data: Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Re-usable
  • Characteristics of different types of data and the implications for data management
  • How to deal with sensitive data according to GDPR procedures
  • Storing your data securely and sustainably and taking measures to reduce risks
  • Making it possible for others to interpret your data sets
  • Data sharing, including issues that concern ethics, privacy, informed consent, etc.
  • Publishing data and archiving it for long-term access
  • Data Management Plan: the contents and its purpose.
  • Open Science and the Open Science Community Leiden

Dates

The sessions are in principle on location on the following dates:

  • Session 1: Tuesday 2 April, 09.00- 13.00 hrs., room 3.16 in Wijnhaven
  • Session 2: Tuesday 9 April, 09.00- 13.00 hrs., room 3.16 in Wijnhaven
  • Session 3: Monday 13 May, 09.00- 13.00 hrs., room 2.59 in Wijnhaven (from 12.00 to 13.00 hrs. in room 2.58)

If necessary, it is possible to join the sessions via MS Teams. 

Important information

The course requires attendance on all dates and this course is obligatory for all FGGA PhD candidates. Participation in this course is a requirement for obtaining your PhD.
