Workshop
Target group
This workshop is specifically designed for all university staff in non-managerial roles (scientific and non-scientific).

This workshop is here to support you in having (formal and informal) GROW interviews with your manager. Whether it is about your performance and results, well-being or development. This workshop helps you to focus and discuss your needs and wishes.

Growth in conversation

In the interactive and practical ‘Growth in Conversation’ workshop, you’ll discover how to clearly express your needs and boundaries. In a confidential setting, you’ll practise handling challenging conversations with your manager, guided by the trainer. You’ll receive practical tips and tools to help you communicate constructively, and gain insight into your role during these conversations. This will give you the confidence to engage in a two-way dialogue with your manager.

During the workshop, you will:

  • Gain a clear idea of your development and/or well-being needs and learn how to address them within the organisational context;
  • Identify your verbal and nonverbal communication skills and learn how to use them effectively;
  • Practise expressing your needs and setting boundaries that align with your ambitions;
  • Play with communication techniques that foster an open dialogue: listening, asking questions and adapting your approach.

Competencies

This workshop will develop the following competencies:

  • Self-awareness
  • Clear expectations
  • Learning ability
  • Feedback

Approach

This workshop is open to staff from all faculties and will be offered in both Dutch and English to a maximum group size of eight.

In just three hours, you will lay the groundwork for constructive GROW interviews. You will learn practical communication techniques, including listening, asking questions and setting boundaries. The knowledge you acquire in this workshop is practical and immediately applicable to your work.

Prior to the workshop, you will be asked to complete an intake form to describe your situation and development needs. This will allow the trainer to tailor the programme to the participants’ needs.

More details

To ensure you feel free to be open and honest about your wants and needs, we recommend discussing with your team who will attend and when.
