Professional Communication – Listening, Asking Follow-Up Questions, Understanding

Good communication starts with good listening. But how well do you actually listen? And how do you ensure you don't make assumptions too quickly about what someone else is saying?

Method
Workshop

In this workshop, you will actively work on listening, asking follow-up questions, and summarizing. You will explore how assumptions influence a conversation and practice asking open, closed, and check questions. You will also reflect on your (non-)verbal communication: what do you project, how do you come across, and what is the effect of this on your conversation partner?

What will you gain from this?

After this workshop:

  • You will understand what your conversation partner means more quickly, reducing misunderstandings and making collaboration run more smoothly;
  • You will consciously ask open, closed, and checking questions, allowing you to deepen conversations and provide direction;
  • You will recognize assumptions in your own thinking and learn to test them in conversations;
  • You will be able to structure conversations better by summarizing clearly and asking follow-up questions;
  • You will have practiced various listening techniques and know the effect your (non-)verbal behavior has on the other person;

You will return to work with concrete techniques that you can apply immediately in consultations, advisory meetings, and daily collaboration.
