Zheng Bo by Kwan Sheung Chi

Abstract:

Zheng Bo lives in a village on the south side of Lantau Island, Hong Kong. They grow weedy gardens, living slogans, biophilia films, and ecosocialist gatherings. These diverse projects, alive and entangled, constitute a garden where they collaborate with both human and nonhuman thinkers and activists. Their ecological art practice contributes to an emergent planetary indigeneity. In this talk, the artist will discuss the relationship between Daoist wisdom and their ecological art practice.
For this talk we warmly recommend following readings:

  • Dao De Jing, a translation by Ames and Hall (feel free to choose yourself which parts you prefer to read)
  • Robin Wall Kimmerer, "Learning the Grammar of Animacy"

In case you are interested to receive pdfs of these texts, please email hwslectures@gmail.com by Monday 17th April.
