Address
Wijnhaven

In light of the Orange the World campagin, the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs is organising a series of events to raise awareness about violence against women and girls. The campaign is a global initiative by UN Women and takes place each year from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) 10 December (Human Rights Day). The themes closely connect to the faculty's research on femicide, justice, human rights and governance.

Book presentation

More on the book launch

This book launch by Dr. Martín Hernán Di Marco (ISGA) centers on his new study of femicide perpetrators in Latin America — a topic that sheds light on the social, psychological, and structural causes of gender-based violence. The event connects academic research with societal questions of justice and violence prevention, offering space for dialogue and reflection on pathways toward change.

Film screenings

More on the film screenings

We will show three powerful documentaries addressing violence against women and girls. Blawudruk portrays the lifelong impact of femicide on the children left behind, as four young women reconstruct their memories of loss and survival. VIVAS highlights the fight against femicide and impunity in Latin America, while Blauwe ballen en andere verkrachtingsmythes examines the persistent misconceptions surrounding sexual violence and the obstacles victims face in their search for justice.

Through these screenings and the discussions with filmmakers, researchers, and other experts, we aim to break the silence, increase awareness, and amplify the voices of those who live with these realities every day.
