How can we make higher-education assessments more fair in the age of GenAI? Join us to impact Leiden University regulations on GenAI use.
We want to make sure that assessments – exams, papers, presentations – remain fair, or become more fair, now that students and teachers have access to GenAI technologies. To this end, Leiden University's FAIR-ASSESS project organises a deliberative assembly to formulate rules for GenAI use in assessments. The assembly will gather 49 people - students and teachers - within our university (7 for each faculty).
You can be one of them! The application link is at the bottom of this page.
A deliberative assembly?
A deliberative assembly brings together a group of people to engage with a complex topic. The group receives and exchanges information, critically examines the problem, and makes recommendations on how to deal with it. This way, policy decisions are informed by those who are affected by them. This is the first deliberative assembly held at a university to discuss how fairness of assessments can be increased in the age of GenAI. The results of this deliberation will inform assessment policies at Leiden University and potentially beyond.
What's in it for me?
- An opportunity to influence university policies on the use of GenAI
- Direct experience with a deliberative process to inform decision-making
- A participation certificate attesting that you contributed to an advisory report with guidelines for GenAI use in assessment practices at Leiden University
- Upon consent, shared authorship of this report
- Learn about the implications of GenAI use from different points of view
- Get to know other students and academic staff across all seven faculties of Leiden University
- For students only: a financial compensation of €150 after attending of all four sessions
The Application deadline is Monday 1 December.
