Professor Andrea Evers appointed member of the Scientific Council for Government
Leiden University health psychologist Andrea Evers will join the Scientific Council for Government (WRR) on 1 January 2024. Last Friday, the council of ministers approved Evers' nomination for appointment by the king as a council member. The WRR informs and advises the government and parliament on major social issues.
Besides being a professor, Andrea Evers is affiliated to Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam as Medical Delta Professor of Healthy Society.
The WRR works independently, multidisciplinary and across sectors. Its advice is scientifically based and focused on the long term. Members of the council are independent and function without interference or consultation.
Trust in the government
'I am of course honoured by this nomination,' Evers let it be known in a first reaction. 'Especially because this is the first time a behavioural scientist joins the WRR. It is great that the WRR recognises the importance of this in their advice to the government, for example for creating support and strengthening the trust people have in the government. I am very much looking forward to the contribution I can make in this area.'
