New Phase for Aleida Nijland. Experience the Building Yourself in VR
The final design of the Aleida Nijland has been completed. The spaces in the new faculty building have been allocated to the future users, and several sessions have taken place in which staff and students were able to contribute ideas about the interior. With each step, the Aleida Nijland is taking clearer shape, bringing the completion of the building ever closer.
Soon, you will be able to experience what the building will look like yourself. Using a VR headset, you can step into the future Atrium of the Aleida Nijland. The VR tours will take place during the walk‑in session for staff on 22 January. You can read how to register at the bottom of this message.
Interior: warm, welcoming and functional
During various user meetings, staff from the Humanities Hub and SSH Labs, LUCL, LUCAS, ATC, LAK, OSZ, UFB and several students shared their wishes and points of attention for the interior with the interior architects at Studio Linse. The firm is now working with this input to create a design that is not only practical, but also inviting and user‑friendly. The aim is to make the Aleida Nijland a pleasant working and study environment for everyone, taking into account the different needs of its users.
In February, Studio Linse will present the detailed plans to the various user groups.
Technical Design Phase
The final design having been completed, the Aleida Nijland has now entered the technical design phase. In this phase, all the practical and functional aspects of the building are worked out in detail—from installations and safety to sustainability—so that the design is ready for construction. Users are involved to ensure that the building will function effectively in daily practice, for example regarding power outlets, ICT facilities, kitchen and sanitary provisions, and accessibility.
