Andrea Evers Fund
The Andrea Evers Fund provides funding for innovative, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects in the area of health and well-being.
The Prof. Andrea Evers Fund for Health, Behaviour & Society encourages pioneering research that makes sustainable links between science, healthcare and society. The fund aims to promote collaboration both among different scientific fields (interdisciplinary) and with societal partners (transdisciplinary). This will generate knowledge that is not only scientifically innovative but also has societal impact and direct practical application.
Purpose and mission
The purpose of the fund is to increase the societal impact of behavioural and health sciences. It may be used to expand existing projects, but is also intended for new initiatives.
The fund supports projects that:
- translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions for health and well-being;
- promote co-creation and collaboration between academic, clinical and societal partners;
- lead to sustainable societal and policy-making impact.
Who can apply?
Application is open to all researchers who work in the Faculty of Social & Behavioural Sciences (FSW) of Leiden University. Researchers from outside FSW may also submit an application, provided that they collaborate with an FSW researcher, who will then be the main applicant.
Each proposed project must be conducted in conjunction with at least one collaborative partner, such as:
- another faculty or research institute within Leiden University
- a societal, clinical or policy-making organisation
- a knowledge or innovation hub (e.g. Health Campus The Hague or Leiden Bio Science Park)
The collaboration must demonstrably result in added value and knowledge exchange between disciplines and sectors.
Budget and duration
The duration of the fund is until 1 July 2030, with approximately €140,000 available per year. Researchers may apply for €25,000 - €40,000 per project (seed funding). The maximum project duration is 12 months.
The fund is financed by the NWO Stevin Prize awarded to Prof. Andrea Evers and co-financed by FSW.
