Leiden University is celebrating its 450th anniversary in 2025 with a feast for the eyes, ears and spirit. The anniversary year opens with an extra special Dies Natalis on 7 February. Highlights includes an alumni festival, three exhibitions and a canal concert.

On 27 May 2025, the Executive Board decided to establish a Committee on Human Rights / Conflict Zones.

Each degree programme has its own programme committee. This is a legal requirement. Students and lecturers sit on the programme committee. Together they monitor the quality of the teaching, flag up any problems and advise on the development and implementation of the teaching policy.

Arts and culture

Every faculty has its own procedures with respect to registering for courses and examinations, BSA, handing in grades, publishing timetables, etc. For more information, see your Faculty’s tab.

If the University is involved in a crisis or calamity, a crisis management team will be formed. For small incidents, every building has its own Emergency Response Coordinator.
