Survey: share your experiences with Recognition & Rewards
How is your work recognised and valued? What could be improved? Have you noticed changes in policy or daily practice since 2019, when the national Recognition & Rewards programme was launched by the Universities of the Netherlands? By completing the national survey (the Culture Barometer), you actively contribute to improving the way academics are recognised, valued and supported.
Completing the survey takes approximately 15 minutes. Please note: it is not possible to save your responses partway through. You can participate until 15 February.
Who can participate?
The survey is open to all academic staff at the Leiden University, including lecturers, researchers, assistant professors, associate professors, professors and PhD candidates, regardless of nationality.
About the barometer
The results provide insight into how the recognition and rewarding of the diverse work of academics is developing within universities – not only in research, but also in education, impact, leadership and, where applicable, patient care.
The first measurement took place in January 2024. This second measurement is the final opportunity to share your experiences via the Culture Barometer, as the national Recognition & Rewards programme will conclude after 2026.
Research and privacy
The survey is conducted by the independent research agency Berenschot on behalf of the national programme. All data remain with Berenschot and are shared only in aggregated form both nationally and per institution. If you have questions about the survey, please contact EWcultuurbarometer@berenschot.nl.
Academia in Motion
Alongside the national efforts coordinated by the Universities of the Netherlands, Leiden University is actively developing new ways to recognise and reward its staff. Open science, collaboration, wellbeing and leadership are central to this approach.
