Description

This training is organized for all new PhD candidates of Leiden Law School. The training is offered in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Scholarship (CDS) at Leiden University Libraries. The training touches upon all aspects of research data management, with examples drawn from the research taking place at Leiden Law School. During the training, participants will write their own data management plan.

Mode of instruction

The training will introduce the principles and best practices of responsible data management with a focus on working with research data in law. The training will also have sessions on qualitative and quantitative data, data privacy, and open science. The training will help to answer the question “Do I collect (personal) data in my research project?” and give insights on writing your own data management plan (DMP).

Researchers are required to have a DMP before they start data collection. It is also needed for the PhD evaluation meeting held at the end of the first year, and to apply for ethics review.

The training will take place in-person at Leiden University.
