Facility
Electrical work planned for July – check when your floor is due
In July, the distribution boards at the KOG will be replaced as part of necessary maintenance work to keep our power facilities in line with rising demand. This work will be carried out per floor or corridor and will normally take one working day. On that day, there will temporarily be no electricity in corridors, lecture halls and possibly office spaces in that particular section of the building.
What does it mean for you?
When it's the turn for your corridor, we advise you to work from home that day or – if necessary – work on a different floor or corridor, for example in room B1.41 or B4.43. The work can then be carried out safely and efficiently while the inconvenience for you will be limited.
Planning
The planning for each floor is provided in the diagram. This basically means:
- Ground floor: 8 July , library closed on 7 July and entrance hall and OIC room on 14 July
- 1st floor: offices on 2 July and restaurant, which is closed that day, on 4 July
- 2nd floor: 3 July
- 3rd floor: 10 July
- 4th floor: 11 July (not shown on diagram)
Why now?
The work has been deliberately planned for the summer months when it’s quieter in the building and there’s hardly any teaching going on. So, there’s no impact on teaching and for staff this will be kept to a minimum.
What won’t be working?
Mostly, only the lighting part of the distribution board will be switched off. However, at times it may be necessary to isolate the distribution board completely. This means that there will be no power at all in the area being worked on, including sockets, lighting and ICT facilities. Wi-Fi , however, will remain available throughout the work.
