Thresholds for European public procurement lowered
The thresholds for European public procurement procedures will be lowered from 1 January 2026. The new thresholds are valid until 1 January 2028.
The new thresholds are:
- €216,000 (previously €221,000) excluding VAT for services and supplies
- €5,404,000 (previously €5,538,000) excluding VAT for works
Purchasing at the university
If you wish to purchase something on behalf of the university, there are various procurement procedures you must consider. The procedure you must follow depends on the size of the contract. It is therefore important to estimate this realistically. Always report purchases of €30,000 or more to the Procurement Department.
European public procurement threshold
The thresholds are set biennially by the European Commission based on the average exchange rate of the euro against the SDR (IMF Special Drawing Rights).
