Call for Papers and Panels: Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) Conference 2022
Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) will hold its first international conference on 8-10 June 2022 in The Hague. Deadline submissions: 22 April 2022.
Conference 8-10 June
How are major world-scale changes in contemporary society governed? How might global matters such as geopolitical shifts, ecological changes, technological innovations, and pandemics be better governed? These questions lie at the heart of the Global Transformations and Governance Challenges (GTGC) programme at Leiden University, launched in 2020.
GTGC will hold its first international conference on 8-10 June 2022 in The Hague. The proceedings will include high-level roundtables regarding the International Criminal Court (including opening remarks by the ICC President), climate change, and the global Internet in a divided world. Further conference panels will address questions of global peace and security, global migration, global health, and global human rights. Receptions and lunches will offer additional networking opportunities.
The conference will be held in person at Leiden University’s The Hague Campus.
Call for papers and panels
We invite your submission of abstracts for papers and panels that explore how society and politics can (better) handle pressing current global problems.
Proposals should include:
- Name(s), affiliation, and a short biography (50-100 words) of the applicant(s)
- Paper abstract of maximum 200 words
- Panel description of max. 350 words and abstracts for each paper of max. 200 words
Please submit your paper/panel proposals to gtgc-conference@leidenuniv.nl by 22 April 2022. Successful applicants will be notified in early May.
For whom?
We invite colleagues from researcher and practitioner circles in Leiden/The Hague and further afield to join us for two days of searching explorations of how society and politics (could better) handle pressing global problems of our day. In addition to panels concerning topics such as those named above, the conference will include a general networking reception and three special round tables: one will assess the International Criminal Court at The Hague on its twentieth anniversary of operations, with opening remarks by the ICC President; a second will focus on ecology; and a third on internet governance.
