Bart Custers Named Mr. of the Week
This week, Bart Custers, Professor of Law & Data Science and Head of eLaw – Center for Law and Digital Technologies, has been named Mr. of the Week by the Dutch legal magazine Mr. The occasion for this is the 40th anniversary of eLaw that will be celebrated this week.

eLaw is the oldest department for law and technology in the Netherlands. On 2 April, a full-day conference is taking place at the Faculty of Law, combined with the annual Hans Franken Lecture.
'On 2 April, we’re looking ahead to the future of research in law and technology, with topics such as AI, robotics, and human vulnerabilities,” Custers explains in the interview. “We’re also hosting a panel of department heads from sister faculties to discuss the unique role of IT law within law schools. As a functional legal domain, our field falls outside the traditional public, private, and criminal law divide. Our work also has a strong international and interdisciplinary character.'
eLaw will end the day with its annual Hans Franken Lecture, this year delivered by Marietje Schaake, former Member of the European Parliament and fellow at Stanford University.
