Integrated safety & security
Safety has many facets and does not mean the same thing to everyone. In an integrated approach to safety, we consider these elements together and in relation to one another. This makes risks easier to manage, reduces the likelihood of incidents, and strengthens safety awareness within educational institutions.
Within Leiden University, various departments are responsible for their own safety themes. The Safety Affairs Department acts at university-wide level as the guardian of coherence across all safety themes. Leiden University is affiliated with the Platform Integrale Veiligheid Hoger Onderwijs (IV-HO). This platform supports both universities of applied sciences and research universities in creating an open and safe learning and working environment.
