Brightspace

Brightspace is the digital learning environment at Leiden University. Instructors use Brightspace to digitally communicate their courses to students. Brightspace offers a clear platform where students can submit assignments, take quizzes, and view weblectures. It also allows instructors to share grades via Brightspace Grades.

Within Brightspace you can use third party tools such as Turnitin for plagiarism checking and FeedbackFruits/Pitch2Peer for peer reviews.

Brightspace Grades

Within the FGGA, the FLO-team is responsible for creating the Gradebooks. This is done based on the information provided in the Study Guide. Since the information in the Study Guide is leading, it must always be kept up-to-date. If any changes need to be made to the Study Guide information, these must first be approved by the Board of Examinors. Only then will the new data be processed in the Gradebooks. For more information about the use and creation of the Gradebooks, read more here.

Please note: Once the Gradebooks gave been created, it is discouraged to make any changes to the Gradebook yourself. For any changes, please contact the FLO-team

Brightspace groups

Brightspace offers the possiblity to create groups, to which group assignments can be connected. The instructor, however, is responsible for creating the groups. Read more on the instructions of how to create groups in Brightspace.

Students are enrolled to these groups via the group CSV file that the instructor provides to the FLO team. It is important that the correct format is maintained in the CSV file. The FLO team will then import the students into the correct groups.
