New calls for Comenius and Grassfields grants
Do you have ideas to innovate your teaching, or do you want to scale up a successful educational innovation? That's easier with a (hefty) grant! The 2026 calls for the Comenius Teaching Fellowship and the Comenius Senior Fellowship of NRO and the Grassfields of Leiden University were recently opened.
Comenius
The Comenius Teaching Fellowship (Call 2026) is a grant for implementing a teaching innovation within a subject or course. The fellowship is intended to fund small-scale, one-year projects. As every year, no maximum number of applications has been set. Applying for this grant starts with submitting a Letter of Intent. The deadline for this is 9 September. If you want to apply, please contact Anna Terra Verhage (SAZ) so she can offer you an advisory start-up meeting.
Comenius Senior
The Comenius Senior Fellowship (Call 2026) is a fellowship for larger educational innovations lasting up to 2 years. Only one application per faculty may be submitted for this fellowship each year. The faculty board will select an application and will submit it to SAZ by 25 August. (Potential) applicants are requested to submit a project outline by 15 August. Want to know more about the conditions for the project outline or the faculty selection procedure? Contact Mieneke van der Salm.
Grassfields
Leiden University also has its own grants for educational innovation. Grassfields is an annual grant opportunity to scale up successful educational innovations within Leiden University. The grant provides funding for recently completed and ongoing educational projects with the potential for wider application across multiple faculties. The deadline for submitting an application is 3 October. Read more about this year's application round.
