New bridge to the University Sports Centre: foundation works starting 9 March
From Monday 9 March 2026, foundation works will begin for the new bridge to the University Sports Centre (USC). The bridge will be located near the B-wing of the Gorlaeus Building. The works will start with the installation of the foundation piles; the bridge itself will be installed at a later stage.
The foundation piles will be installed in week 11. The works will commence on Monday 9 March and are expected to continue until Wednesday 18 March. During this period, materials will also be removed from the site.
Closure of Rosalind Franklinpad
Due to these works and the construction of the new USC sports fields, the Rosalind Franklinpad, next to the Gorlaeus Building, will remain closed until 31 December.
