New Research Data Management Protocol Approved
The Faculty of Archaeology has formally adopted a new Research Data Management (RDM) Protocol, approved by the Faculty Board in February 2026. This protocol translates the university-wide RDM2021 regulations into concrete guidelines tailored to archaeological research.
The protocol clarifies the responsibilities of researchers and support staff throughout the research lifecycle, covering all digital and physical research data, research software, and required documentation. It applies to all researchers working under the Faculty’s auspices, including PhD candidates, visiting scholars, and project partners.
As a “living document,” the protocol will be updated regularly in line with evolving best practices and support infrastructure at Leiden University. It serves as a formal framework; practical guidance will be made available in an updated Faculty Data Management Handbook.
You may find the Research Data Management Protocol in the list of policy documents.
